A moniker originally created to explore a darker, experimental, more underground side that evolved from his original house roots, Mike ‘Da Mooch’ Mucci has been the man behind many artist names and club identities. The Miami-based DJ/producer/composer has been racking up kudos from fellow jocks and producers all over the world with a dance sound that deftly combines influences of classic, Chicago-style garage house with a cutting-edge, progressive tech sound thickly layered with elements past, present and future.
From house stompers like ‘Send Me Some Love’ and ‘That’s What It Is’ under the name Da Mooch, to DJ staple ‘The Door’ in the guise of Circuit Boy, Mucci has built a solid reputation on the street as a composer with a knack for crafting memorable hooks, driving beats and insinuating grooves. Even the lighter, less serious side of Mike's production shows evidence of massive dance floor credibility, pumping out Billboard charting hits like Shampale Cartier's ‘I’m Talkin’ To You’ and ‘I Got A Man’. More recently, his new, darker sound has come to include projects with Albert Camara from ObAdam. In 2002 the duo spawned the underground anthems ‘This Is Your Life’ and ‘MutherF*cker’ under the Evolved name, both signed to Subliminal's experimental label, Sondos. Most recently, Grammy Award-winning remix team Deep Dish sought out Mike's Evolved remix of Aalacho's ‘Satellite’ for inclusion on the newest instalment of the Global Underground series, ‘Deep Dish - Toronto #25’ as well as a release of their own on Yoshitoshi. With new projects and remixes in the works, the Evolved sound continues to expand and grow. Look for much more of the Evolved name in the upcoming year.
