Central Rush

Formally trained in the violin from the age of 5, Mark Chu went on to master the electric guitar during his teens, and wound up playing sessions for TV shows and rock and blues producers. However, it was when he sneaked a quick go on his brother’s modest studio equipment he fell in love with electronic music.

With his “HypnotiK” alias, Mark enjoyed moderate success, receiving over 200,000 downloads at the internet music site mp3.com. However, HypnotiK was strictly a progressive and melodic trance project, and Mark eventually tired of thesound. By drawing on more experimental, cutting-edge artists such as Charlie May, James Holden, and Slacker for inspiration, Mark began developing a new sound for himself that led to the creation of Central Rush. One of the newest members of the Method family, he’s in good company alongside such heavy-hitters as Innate, Peter Martin, Andy Moor, Mark Wheawill, and Parks & Wilson. His sound could be described as melodic-progressive house that contains traces of psychedelic, techy, ambient, and dubby forms of electronica, but instead of being concerned with writing the next repetitious, straight-ahead dance tune, Central Rush is concerned with bending all the rules of house music without breaking them.
